Dear Concerned Citizens of J. Sterling Morton District 201:

As you may know, Rita Maniotis was stricken from the ballot by members of the same board she wishes to join despite the 72 signatures she gathered when only 50 were required, despite the county ruling that she had 50 valid signatures, and despite the 12 affidavits she gathered to prove that printed signatures disallowed by the county, because they did not match their signature cards, were also genuine. The electoral board overruled the county's records exam findings and also ruled that two of the notarized affidavits were falsified. On top of that, they threw out all the affidavits because of a procedural rule. In response to this unfortunate distortion of democracy, we are organizing citizens in two ways:

1) Write in RITA! Please support the write-in candidacy of Rita Maniotis by writing in Rita Maniotis on the ballot for District 201 School Board on April 5, 2011. DO NOT VOTE FOR ANYONE ELSE. There are 3 seats available and Rita is one of 4 candidates. Any vote for the other candidates will negate her totals and lessen her chances of winning the seat.

2) Rehab D201! Join our newly formed committee: Rehab D201--Renew Education, Hope and Belief in District 201. The focus will be on the 2013 election and winning additional seats so that our board will truly represent the good citizens of District 201.

Rita's Stances

1) Cut the ties between machine politics and the District 201 School Board.

2) Restore the graduation requirements for Morton students.

3) Stop the diversion of Morton tax revenue to TIF districts.
